The LaMarche Family established the Dave LaMarche Sportsmanship Award in 2011. The award will be made annually at the NYTPA Fall Banquet. The award of a plaque will be made to the NYTPA pulling family (crewperson or family member) who upholds the values of sanctioned pulling with NYTPA and goes the extra mile to make a difference for others through encouragement, assistance and an all around good attitude. NYTPA Protocol & Operating Procedures
1. To be eligible to receive an end of season point's check a competitor must be both a NYTPA competing member and a PPL member and participate in 2/3 of the scheduled events. The vehicle must be registered with PPL. At an event, the competitor must pay their entry fee and pass Tech inspection. It is the responsibility of the competitor to contact a NYTPA Tech official to inspect their vehicle.
2. Registration is open 4 hours before the start of the event. Please give the entry clerk the courtesy of entering as soon as entry opens. Bring the correct change (small bills). For split class events like Greenwich, Schaghticoke & Hebron, if the competitor is one site, register in the morning even if you don't pull until evening.
3. Registration closes 1 1/2 hours before the start time of the event. Any driver/vehicle not registered at that time will not pull in that session. It is the driver's responsibility to call entry, a Tech official or other puller to get them registered. If you ask someone to register for you they MUST pay the entry fee. A number will be selected and a receipt issued for you to that person. The vehicle must be on the grounds before its class starts to collect points.
4. Points are calculated 50 for 1st down by 2 until 26 for 13th place. All remaining competitors receive 25 points respectively, if a measurable distance has been made under green flag conditions.
5. The registered competitor must attend the driver's meeting and answer roll call. If the competitor cannot attend the meeting he/she must send a representative who must identify him/herself as being the representative for said competitor. If neither the competitor nor a representative is not in attendance 5 points will be deducted from vehicle points. The competitor must make every effort to attend the drivers meeting. A pattern of continuous use of a representative will be addressed by the Director of Operations and the President.
6. If a competitor is eligible after a measurable distance, to drop & rehook (test hook or didn't go 100 ft); then breaks and cannot return he receives last place points and money before a DQ.
7. If a competitor breaks on the line, wherein he has given every effort to get the vehicle started; however, he does not get a measurable distance he will receive 15 points and last place money after a competitor who has hooked and broke before his rehook (#6 above) and after a DQ.
8. Disqualifications will receive last place points and money in their class with the exception of #7 above. If more than one DQ in the class they will split last place points and money.
9. If a competitor scratches without hooking to the sled the vehicle receives 15 points and no purse money is paid.
10. Once a vehicle has scratched from a session, it cannot re-enter into that session.
11. NYTPA adopted the PPL Policy of no splits or ties for pull-offs. At least one of the competitors will hook to the sled and make a measurable distance. In case of a tie for other than 1st place, points and money will be distributed equally for the place finishes.
12. When a class has been officially presented, but must be called for any reason, the purse and points will be split equally to all competitors based on the number of entries in the class. 2/3 of a class presented shall make the class official.
13. All points are awarded to a NYTPA & PPL registered vehicle, not the driver. If the driver or the vehicle is not registered with PPL, a PPL One-Day fee must be paid.
14. If a vehicle is sold during a competitor's season the points go with the vehicle
15. No rain out points or money is awarded if entries do not open. If entry opens, the vehicle must stay at the event until the rain out is officially called. If the vehicle leaves the grounds prior to the official call no rain out points will be given and no money will be paid to the competitor. Rain points are 25 points and rain out money, if applicable, is $100.
16. In the event of rain during a pull-off, points & money will be divided equally to those in the pull off.
17. PPL requires that all sponsorship decals & patches be properly displayed to pass Tech. This applies to ALL vehicles including non-PPL members competing on a day-hook fee. No points will be issued and no money distributed if decalls are not displaced at all times.
18. Points will not be awarded to any level for any reason for no shows.
19. Clothing restrictions remain in effect once the event has started. This applies within 30 ft of the track, on the track, in the hot pits & line up areas and at the scales. No shorts, tank tops or open toed footwear. This safety policy applies to everyone. For driver's introductions, which must be attended by the driver or a representative, must wear a driver's suit, team shirt, or NYTPA shirt (tucked in with long pants). Wear your Lucas Oil hat. Tech Officials are required to wear fire retardant uniforms (no polyester) while event is in session.
20. During the competition, only the driver and one (1) crew person are allowed in the line-up area and on the track. Anyone within the restricted areas (track-hot pit- line up- etc) requires an associate membership and must sign the waiver at all events.
21. Any team member or support vehicle on the track while a vehicle is under the green flag (running down the track with or behind the tractor) will result in a disqualification (DQ) for the vehicle and driver.
22. Any driver or crew member found under the influence of drugs or using intoxicating agents in the track area will disqualify the vehicle. The track area is defined as 30 feet within the track.
23. Fire extinguishers must be in reach of drivers at all times - 2.5 lb minimum.
24. Drawbars - Must have orange paint on primary drawbar and white paint on the secondary drawbar.
25. All turbo charged engines must have cross bolts in the exhaust stack.
26. All drivers must have fireproof gloves, head-sock, and shoes. Face shields are recommended.
27. No alcohol or alcohol based substances are to be placed in the water injection system with the exception of the water/alcohol allowed for turbines.
28. The No Drone policy is official. If any drones are spotted anywhere with the pulling event area the pull will be shut down until the drone is removed.
29. All vehicles must have rear safety light, white in color, wired to come on while in neutral, an additional light (amber or green) may come on when vehicle is in reverse.
30. Modified - All cross boxes and drop boxes must have a total material minimum of 1.5" billet aluminum or 3/4 steel surrounding sides and top of either configuration.
